PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The General Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy and management/leadership of hourly/ salary staff including shop supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide leadership to all organizations and individuals in the plant in order to meet customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery
* Provide development of staff leaders to guide plant and support organizations
* Work with customers, functional leaders, and internal staff to meet organizational requirements
* Lead the establishment and attainment of plant goals in quality, cost, schedule, compliance and safety
* Establish and maintain the plant vision for success
* Facilitate the leadership team in strategic decision-making and problem-solving
* Provide leadership development and performance feedback to the plant staff
* Establish and maintain positive corporate citizenship through community organizations and the media
* Work with local legislative bodies to promote decisions with a positive impact on the business
* Develop and track expense and investment budgets with the input of each organization
* Establish and adjust an organizational structure that best supports the plant goals and measurements
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Prior experience managing manufacturing operations in the aerospace industry
* Six Sigma training is preferred
* Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously
* Ability to work in a matrix organization
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects
* Strong project and team leadership
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred or Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in related field
* Plus at least 10 years of manufacturing experience (preferably in aerospace).
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
* Have the knowledge of and/or the ability to learn shop geometry and trigonometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram forms.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
