The Senior Systems Administrator will primarily focus on managing the Bank's patching program and the application of security benchmarks for the Bank's infrastructure located in all data centers and offices, provide support for systems and applications, specifically the Bank's SharePoint deployment, investigate and implement new technologies, and automate processes where possible. The patching administrator will report to the Network Systems Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: compiling & documenting new vulnerability information for the Bank's infrastructure and applications for weekly meetings; coordinating the schedule and required resources for patching and testing platforms, systems, network devices, and applications; compiling statistics on patching and security benchmarks for management, Information Security, Risk Management and Audit; document and periodically update infrastructure configurations; test failover systems for proper operation at scheduled intervals; design, plan and implement all necessary upgrades and changes to network and server systems; possess sound and independent problem solving and troubleshooting skills for all that comprises our infrastructure (internal/external and web applications, Active Directory, desktops, servers, load balancers, network equipment & storage); manage all projects assigned to them and their subordinates and meet all required deadlines; coordinate with the security information officer and IT audit officer to insure compliance with recommended security practices and department and organizational policies; educate department managers and general users in required and recommended Information Technology practices; keep the network physical plant, including server room, in good condition.
JOB FUNCTIONS (DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES)
Prepare content to review for the weekly vulnerability assessment meetings and record the meeting minutes.
Manage patching schedule, coordinate the deployment of patches and work with teams within IT to verify systems after the upgrade.
Utilize Client's patch management software suites and scripts to deploy and report on patches.
Provide regular reporting on the security health of the infrastructure to IT management, Information Security, Risk and Audit.
Work with Information Security on assessing benchmark relevance, impact and applicability related to the Bank's infrastructure.
Work with teams in IT to apply and test benchmark and security settings through all environments up to Production/DR.
Works with the Infrastructure team to support and manage systems & backup team members' as needed.
Responsible as the primary SharePoint administrator.
Works with Infrastructure team to manage projects as assigned.
Establishes policies and procedures for the SharePoint environment and leads initiatives for the planning, design and maintenance of the system.
Participate in the on-call rotation of the IT Infrastructure group.
Maintains fault tolerant systems and tests on a regular basis. Updates and maintains the Bank's disaster recovery site as needed. Coordinates with the Disaster Recovery coordinator for disaster testing.
Manages 3rd party vendors in the assignment of any and all of the above responsibilities.
Responsible for adhering to the Change Management process for all changes to the infrastructure.
Responsible for management and life-cycle in his areas of control.
Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains Servers, PC hardware, software and printers and escalates to vendors as required.
Reviews and modifies existing, and establishes new procedures as required for proper operation of the Bank's network equipment and servers, operating systems and system applications.
Maintains detailed hardware and software licensing records.
Assists in infrastructure planning, design, installation and maintenance; accounting for high availability, Disaster Recovery, performance and scalability.
Performs server administrative tasks as directed or required.
Ability to work with and accept user requests.
Participate in the budgeting and procurement processes; taking into account project, equipment and budget requirements.
Document internal processes as well as communications with clients and users as it relates to IT initiatives.
Perform all functions as assigned by management.
Provide high quality work by ensuring accuracy and seeking to continuously improve our processes and platforms by embracing new and better ways of doing things.
KNOWLEDGE /SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Experience patching server and desktop operating systems, applications, VMWare, and network devices required.
Experience managing virtual servers and infrastructure required.
Scripting using bash, batch, Powershell, Ansible, and Python desired.
Experience managing Active Directory objects and GPOs desired.
Three years' experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and software desired.
Good knowledge of network concepts and protocols highly desired.
Good knowledge of IT Security tools, i.e. vulnerability scanners & SIEM desired.
May be required to lift servers and other equipment.
